Create Private Groups in Discussion Forum

To create a private topic, first add the topic, then assign it private status, and then assign members to the private topic.

Note: Only assigned members can view and post messages to a private topic.

Create a private topic

  1. At the Homepage, click the Discussion icon.
     
  2. To add a new topic, Group1 as this sample.  After you create the topic: Group 1, the screen looks like below.

  3. To assign the private status, in the discussion table, under Private, select the check box that corresponds to the topic, Group 1 you just created.  Click Update.

  4. The Discussions screen refreshes and the status of the topic is updated.

Assign members to the private topic

  1. In the discussions table, click the check box of the private topic, Group 1 you just created. Under Options, click Manage members.

  1. The Private Topic screen appears. Click Select members.

  1. The Member Selection screen appears. To select the individual member to the Group 1, click the check box that corresponds to the name, student.01, student.02, student.03, and TLC01 (instructor) are this sample.  Then, Click Update.

  3. The Private Topic screen displays the members of Group 1 in a table.  Click Done.
