"Chilo"

A classically trained artist, Chilo has adapted traditional Latin
music, combining it with jazz, blues and flamenco. The result is a unique,
energetic sound that is exclusively his.
Isidro "Chilo" Rodriguez began his study of the guitar in his home, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico with Professor Isidro Garcia. He also studied at the school of music of the Autonoma Unversity of Nuevo Leon under the guidance of Professor Gregorio Rangel.
In 1972, Chilo entered the National Competition of Classical Guitar, held in Monterrey and came away with the award for first place. He repeated this success in 1976, again coming away with first place.
The Presidential Committee for the Creative Renovation of Mexico elected to honor his achievements and recognize his excellence in his art in 1975 by awarding him a certificate and gold medal, presented to Chilo by the President of Mexico. Chilo was honored by his hometown of Monterrey for the consistency of his artistry, achievements in music and his mastery of the classical guitar
