FUNCTION:                          To serve as a member of the district’s Leadership Team, assist the President with researching, planning, developing and implementing new and emerging strategic initiatives, serve as the President's liaison for internal and external constituencies and manage the Center for Teaching, Learning and Professional Development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

1.      Assist President in implementing the college district’s strategic plan and accomplishing the district’s achievement indicators; research, plan, develop and implement new and emerging strategic initiatives.

 

2.      Serve as liaison to coordinate information flow and communication between the board of trustees, students, faculty, staff, general public and the President’s office responding to questions, complaints and correspondence that directly impact the college and President.

 

3.      Represent the President at meetings, conferences, and functions in the community as well as on-campus; ensure the President is informed of agenda items that impact the college, relaying the President’s position on issues and making urgent or necessary decisions in the absence of the President.

 

4.      Execute special assignments, projects and initiatives for the President and communicate with, and request the assistance of, members of the Leadership Team and others within the college; build consensus among parties involved prior to implementation or completion of the assignment, project or initiative.

 

5.      Prepare and administer multiple budgets to include program operating budgets and grant budgets, making recommendations related to major purchases of equipment and staffing to meet program goals.

 

6.      Provide leadership and direction to ensure effectiveness of curricula, faculty, materials, schedules, new programs and courses for the Center for Teaching, Learning and Professional Development.

 

7.      Stay abreast and advise President of all state and national legislation and legal issues affecting higher education.

 

8.      To achieve efficient and effective use of the college’s resources, research, observe and verify the implementation of current college policies and recommend additions and modifications for consideration by the President.

 

9.      Serve as an intermediary, as needed, with other college departments that are working on specific tasks that affect completion of functions within the President’s office; find the necessary means to get movement on any stalled projects or initiatives of priority to the President.

 

Marginal Job Functions

 

Assist in the development and review of college catalog, brochures and other college publications

 

Act as a liaison between local independent school districts and the teacher education program.

 

Coordinate with Allen ISD faculty, counselors and administrators to provide linkages to college programs.

 

Assist with the advising and registration of students in Allen

 

 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of current District policies and procedures.  Attend meetings, workshops, information/sharing sessions, etc.

 

Knowledge of learning theory-motivational, perceptual, and emotional forces present in the learning process and the conditions, which affect individual learning and change.

 

Knowledge of theories of leadership-alternative techniques and styles for guiding, motivating, and directing individuals under various situational conditions to achieve effective performance.

 

Knowledge of current developments in related fields of specialization with the ability to keep current with new developments.

 

Skills and ability to use current technology.

 

Ability to contribute and present innovative ideas for new curricula and programs that combine traditional schedules with new demands from industry schedules.

 

Ability to demonstrate consideration of others.

 

Ability to compose and deliver oral presentations.

 

Ability to determine equipment and supply needs.

 

Ability to manage time and evaluate employee or student’s progress.

 

Ability to deal effectively and fairly with a variety of individuals in a courteous manner.

 

Ability to speak, read, and write the English language effectively.

 

Ability to clearly and effectively present ideas in meetings and in oral presentations.

 

Ability to formulate program goals and objectives and identify appropriate activities and/or functions to meet these objectives.

Education and Experience

 

Education:                 Master's Degree in education or related education field from a regionally accredited institution.

 

Experience:               Five (5) years administrative experience in higher education, teaching, or related educational field at the senior/executive level in a community college or higher education institution.
