FUNCTION: To assist with the design, implementation and evaluation of a
developmentally appropriate program for young children through daily
administration of the Child Development Center as a service provider and
laboratory site for CD faculty and students.
Ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff at all
times. Direct all activities of the
Center in the Director’s absence.
REPORTS TO: Campus Director CDV
SUPERVISES: In the director’s absence, could supervise
all staff.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions
1) Ensure
compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including DPRS licensing,
NAEYC accreditation.
2) Assist faculty
in designing, implementing and evaluating appropriate lab components to
supplement classroom learning.
3) Serve as
liaison between CD students and faculty, ensuring documented compliance with
Child Development Center policies and curriculum goals.
4) Assist
students with practical application of course work.
5) At times
required to substitute for any position needed in the center, including
teacher’s or director’s.
6) Utilize
positive cognitive, visual and perception skills in determining the location
and needs of children.
7) Interface with
other CCCC departments to provide awareness and services.
8) Maintain
active system of parent-center relationships through daily greetings at arrival
and departure, phone conversations and written communication.
9) Maintain
system of receipts and billing for all financial transactions.
10) Has knowledge of and understanding of the
various forms used and the distribution and filing procedures of each.
11) Ability to
maintain system of filing children’s, student’s and staff’s records to maintain
compliance of state and lab school policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of
developmentally appropriate practices with children through 12 years of age.
Knowledge of
growth and development of children through 12 years of age.
Knowledge of
effective written communication to include memos and letters that relay needs,
position, intent, etc.
Knowledge of
signs and symptoms of child abuse.
Ability to
effectively communicate with families, co-workers, children, community
organizations, volunteers and other CCCC departments.
Ability to
learn word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Ability to
organize and maintain records.
Skill to
perform teaching responsibilities with children as needed.
Skill to
provide positive guidance with children through 12 years of age.
Skill to
provide routine health checks.
Skill to
effectively plan work activities, schedules, priorities, and utilization of
resources.
Ability to
perform all the essential functions of this position.
Education: Associates Degree in Child
Development with a major in
Administration
preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years as a
teacher/caregiver of young children; one year
with administrative and/or supervisory experience. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Or
(Certification in the
Administration of Child Development Centers
and three years as a
teacher/caregiver, to include one year with
administrative and/or supervisory
experience. Must be at least 18
years of age.)
Or
Any equivalent combination of
training and experience.
Licenses/Certificates:
Required to
participate in at least twenty clock hours of training pertaining to
understanding children and improving job performance on a yearly basis.
Current
certification (or willing to take course during probationary period in First
Aid with Rescue Breathing and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for infants
and children.
Must provide
proof of satisfactory TB test within one week of employment, or be willing to
have test done.
