Do you know the difference
between vision insurance for an eye exam using a
HealthSelect plan eye specialist versus vision discounts
on glasses and contacts using a discount provider?
Collin College
employees enrolled in health insurance have coverage for
an annual eye exam through HealthSelect network
specialists at the $30 specialist co-payment. To get
that benefit, just self-refer to any HealthSelect
network optometrist or ophthalmologist.
You do
not have to get a PCP referral for an annual vision
exam. Exams or treatment for injury or diseases of the
eye would require a referral to a specialist by your
primary care physician.
HealthSelect network eye specialists are online at:
www.bcbstx.com/hs,
Doctors and Hospitals, etc. Look in the back half of the
online directory under Specialists--Ophthalmologist and
Optometrists.
The
health insurance does not pay anything on eyewear
itself, such as glasses or contacts, but we have vision
DISCOUNT
benefits with Wal-Mart and EyeMasters through a program
called "Davis Vision ".
For more
information about the Davis Vision Program, please visit
www.davisvision.com,
and
enter control code “4495” under open enrollment or call
toll-free (800) 501-1459 and mention that you are
using the
“BCBSTX Plan #400.” .
