The Honors Designation

Students may earn an Honors designation from the Honors Institute on their degree. Honors designations are awarded to CCCCD students who complete 12 or more hours of Honors courses in at least two academic areas while maintaining a 3.5 grade point average.

Earning an Honors designation from CCCCD leads to valuable academic opportunities including:

  • More favorable standing with four-year universities that recruit CCCCD students

  • Entry into university Honors programs

  • Access to scholarships recognizing academic excellence

  • Recognition for achievement

"I found the honors courses both exhilarating and enriching. The classes, taught by exemplary faculty members, are academically challenging and exciting. My Honors Degree from CCCCD put me in favorable standing with the four-year colleges to which I applied. My involvement with the Honors Institute played an important role in my acquisition of a full academic scholarship to Southern Methodist University"

- Dena Prutchet - former CCCCD Honors student & pending Fulbright grantee
